Essential Christian beliefs
We are first and foremost Christian in our beliefs, therefore we believe in the universal church to which we belong. This universal church includes all Christians past, present and future that hold to certain essential beliefs. Holding to these essential beliefs is what makes one a Christian. It doesn’t matter what time you lived in or what denomination you happen to be a part of you are a Christian if you believe in these essentials.
The authority of Scripture:
We believe that the Bible that we use today is divine in origin and without possibility of error. It is the only source for determining the will of God and therefore the only source for establishing and testing doctrine.
The eternal existence of God in three persons:
We believe that God is all-powerful, all-knowing, present everywhere and eternal in nature. We also believe that God eternally exists in 3 distinct persons: the Father, The Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.
That man was created by God:
We believe that man was created with an eternal soul and a physical body in God’s image. We also believe that because of sin man was eternally separated from God.
That salvation (restoration to God) is only available through the atoning work of Jesus on the cross:
We believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a perfect sinless life, died on a cross, physically rose from the dead, ascended to God’s side, and will one day return to receive the church and judge the world. We also believe that this salvation is given by grace through faith alone it is not deserved and cannot be earned.
The local church body is ordained by God:
We believe the one true head of the Church is Jesus because he bought the church with his blood. We also believe that the church is a group of baptized believers who gather for worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and evangelism (spreading the good news of Jesus to the world).
