Church Family, Friends & Guests!
Join us as we bring some holiday cheer and good spirits to foster children and their families! We have again partnered with Canadian County CASA to help distribute toys to the children in Canadian County foster care. At any given time there are between 250-350 children in foster care in Canadian County. This is a great opportunity to help give back to the community and support foster children in the surrounding area. Let’s come together and make this a great holiday season!
Our 5th annual toy drive will run from Sunday, November 23rd through Sunday, December, 7th and the donations will be taken to Christ’s Church of Yukon on December 9th during a CASA Christmas event to be distributed with discretion at recipient’s homes. There will be a donation box in the foyer to leave your donation(s). If you’d like to have someone else purchase the gifts on your behalf, you’re welcome to gift a monetary donation. I’m happy to purchase items online via Amazon or Walmart if requested to. Please leave all cash, checks or gift card donations with Kristin or Pastor Doug in the front office. If cash is being left for me to purchase items on Walmart or Amazon or to purchase teens gift cards PLEASE specify on the envelope what you’d like me to do, otherwise I’ll just use them on needs based age groups. IF you would like to gift a check specifically for the toy drive, please specify on the envelope, so we can get the check to the office immediately for the CASA director to purchase items.
Children in foster care range from 1 day old to 17 years old, and at 18 they age out of foster care. There is a huge need for gifts spanning all of these ages. Any gift IS wonderful! That being said, there is always a special need for ages 12-17, as these older children can be overlooked when we see the vibrant packaged toys aimed to meet the eyes & excitement of a much younger demographic. If you’re interested in shopping for a teenager this year, consider getting some ideas from your teenage relatives. Perhaps you could enlist the help of our own youth group in getting some gift ideas as well! Below is a list of suggestions & be sure to check out the CASA website for more information on becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in our county!
Thank you for blessing and loving these children. . . for Jesus Loves the Little Children!
